How to forward calls from Grasshopper to CaptureNow

If you signed up for Grasshopper after June 2011:

  1. Log in to your Grasshopper account.
  2. Go to Numbers.
  3. Check which extension your main number is being sent to and transfer to extension.
  4. Click on "Extensions."
  5. Choose the extension for which you'll be adding a call forwarding number.
  6. Click the Edit button.
  7. Click "Add a Forwarding Fumber."
  8. Enter your CaptureNow number as the "forwarding number,"
  9. Select "Calls will connect to you as soon as you pick up," enter "CaptureNow" in the Description.
  10. Set the call-forwarding hours for when you want calls to be answered by CaptureNow.
  11. Click "Add this Number."
  12. Make sure you have the CaptureNow line toggled on.
  13. Set the Caller ID to the caller's number.
  14. Click Save

If you signed up for Grasshopper before June 2011:

  1. Log in to your Grasshopper account.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Then Extensions.
  4. Choose the extension for which you'll be adding a call forwarding number.
  5. Click "Call Forwarding" in the sidebar,
  6. Turn on Call Forwarding.
  7. Click Add Number.
  8. Enter your CaptureNow number as the "Forwarding Number,"
  9. Select "Calls will connect to you as soon as you pick up," enter CaptureNow in the Description.
  10. Set the call-forwarding hours for when you want calls to be answered by CaptureNow.
  11. Click "Add this Number."

How to enable Caller ID in Grasshopper for inbound calls.

  1. Log in to your Grasshopper account. 
  2. Click on "Extensions,"
  3. Click on "Edit."
  4. Below your forwarding numbers, click on "Options."
  5. Under the drop-down menu for “When a call is forwarded to me, show the caller ID of,” select “the caller.”
  6. Click Save. 

CaptureNow needs your Caller ID, but it's turned off by default in Grasshopper.
